History of Landulph Festival

Landulph Festival was first started by the Church Restoration committee in April 2022 with three performances over a weekend  when all proceeds went towards the restoration of Landulph Church who were trying to raise £100,000.

In 2003 the Landulph Festival Association was formed to run the Landulph Festival of Music & the Arts to 'provide a focus of high standard entertainment for the local area and provide more sustained revenue for local projects’. The Festival took place in April with 3 performance (£6 each) two in the church and one in the Memorial Hall.

Over the following years the number of performances has grown and in 2007 it took place in June then in 2008 moved to October.  In addition to the October Festival other events have been run including pantomimes.

The Association was non profit making, with any surplus being donated to local charities. Due to present day tax rules and regulations we have had to change. In 2023 we thought it wise to upgrade and register the Festival as some form of charity or company and after a lot of debate and research, we are now registered as Landulph Festival CIC.  A community interest company (or CIC) is a special form of non-charitable limited company, which exists primarily to benefit a community or with a view to pursuing a social purpose.   This makes banking and the use of cards for event payments easier and will help to keep us up to date with a more professional appearance.

We have not been short of big names over the years, -  John Williams and John Etheridge the two classical guitar players, international opera singer Claire Powell, Blue Grass from USA, to name a few.  Poetry evenings, art lectures, children’s entertainment have all have featured over the years.
